Our story

Public Litter Works began with a simple idea: cleaning up shared spaces can make a big difference. What started as a small group picking up litter in a local park quickly grew into a larger movement.

Today, we’re a nonprofit focused on bringing communities together to clean, care for, and preserve public spaces. Through fun, accessible cleanups and educational programs, we empower people to take action and make their neighborhoods cleaner, safer, and more connected.

Our history

Public Litter Works began in 2017 with a simple act—someone picking up trash in a local park. What started as one person taking initiative quickly turned into a group effort as others joined in. That small moment inspired a bigger idea: what if everyone took part in caring for the places we all share?

In 2018 the movement became an official nonprofit, focused on organizing cleanups, educating communities, and encouraging everyday people to take pride in their environment. Since then, Public Litter Works has grown into a State wide effort, driven by kindness, teamwork, and the belief that small actions lead to lasting change.

About us

Public Litter Works is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cleaning up and caring for the public spaces we all share. We believe that every piece of litter picked up and every moment spent caring for our environment helps create cleaner, safer, and more connected communities.

Founded on the idea that small actions lead to big change, we organize community cleanups, educational programs, and environmental initiatives that bring people together to make a lasting impact. Our goal is to inspire people of all ages to take pride in their surroundings, get involved, and help create a world where public spaces are respected and cherished.

We’re more than just a cleanup crew—we’re a movement of neighbors, families, and volunteers united by a common mission: to keep our communities clean, beautiful, and thriving for generations to come.
